STATIONARY THIEVES IN THE OFFICE

It has been decades passing now ever since office workers have regularly been stealing stationary from the offices. A recent survey report stated of how a good quarter of workers have stolen the stationary items from their offices. Everything from a stapler to pens is taken by the workers while on their way back home.

Office design firm Maris Interiors spoke of how in their reports they realized that 76% of people took stationary items from their office without asking which very much accounts for robbery. 82% of the men admitted to stealing. This number was a good 11% more then when compared with their female counterparts.

Two third of the people surveyed admitted they had taken pens from their offices while forty two percent of them admitted to have stolen paper. This was not all even as stamps were stolen by31%, mugs were stolen by 28% and toilet paper stolen by 24% of the respondents accordingly. Interestingly a much lesser 6% of the people stated that they had stolen a stapler from their offices.

But then this wasn’t all for a fifth of the workers also admitted of stealing even more costly items like plants, filing cabinets, laptops, chairs, toners, desks and carpet tiles. Maris Interiors chairman Michael Howard spoke of how he was very much aware of the fact that workers took stuff home without asking which may as well be counted as theft.

But the surprising factor for him was the news of workers even stealing chairs and desks which was simply the height. Add to this the fact; he is even more astonished as to how come they managed to do it in the first place. Taking something as heavy as a chair and sneaking out of the office with it.
