The firms that have been doing good are the ones always looking at spreading their wings and becoming more flexible in their workings. The Co-operative Group is among such organizations, even the recessing period notwithstanding. The company is looking at coming up with a new distribution centre to be placed in the North Midlands.
The company had got hold of Somerfield by purchasing the company back in 2009 itself. While now following that one up, The Co-operative Group is thus looking at the new division to be able to complete its food logistics network.
Although things are not yet clear as to the exact location of the facility that would be set up as such, the establishment of the division might as well take place near the M1 in either Nottinghamshire or for that matter at Derbyshire.
A good none hundred people are bound to get jobs once the facility is ready and working. Also the current two relatively smaller depots placed in Alfreton and Nottingham are bound to be replaced by the new place once set up. Although the center is not going to become functional before the year 2012, the work is in full progress.
This new place being set up will be a distribution centre and as for the company, it would complete its review of its food distribution network. The company is for sure looking at greatly and continuously expanding no ends. The fact of the matter is that they have as many as 3,000 stores placed all across the United Kingdom.
Now if the extra co-operative societies are added to this list then the number as well goes up to about 4,000. In the mean while, Birtley in County Durham, Thurrock in Essex, Lea Green on Merseyside are the places that have already seen distribution centres being set up.
